The municipality of Talakag belongs to the northern part of Bukidnon, Philippines. It is the second largest municipality in Bukidnon in terms of land area with 94,798.59 hectares distributed among 29 barangays. It is a landlocked community located in the northern part with a total population of 77,027 people. The annual growth rate is 7.54%. The municipality is primarily agro-industrial within an ecologically balanced environment. Major economic products coming from the area include bananas, pineapples, corn, rice, root crops, rubber, and livestock. Slightly more than 50% of the residents are in the labor force. The municipality is home to many tribal groups including “the Bukidnons, the Higaonons, and the Talaandigs”. Most of the tribal groups live in the distant barangays (villages) surrounding the town center. Many villages are more than a 1 hour drive to the town center. Public facilities include elementary secondary schools that are strategically located throughout the municipality. There is one college, one post office, one health center, one emergency hospital, one rural bank and several cooperatives. All are located within the town center. The residents of the town center also enjoy running water and electricity; however a vast majority of residents in the more remote areas of the municipality lack both potable water and electricity. Our foundation focuses on improving these outlying villages. Talakag ranks second in childhood malnutrition in the province of Bukidnon.
